Autobiographical and biographical material, family papers, vital records, correspondence, miscellaneous personal material, Caldecott Medal material, promotional items, newspaper clippings, and a scrapbook. There is also material for several titles, including sketches and/or illustrations, dummies, color separations, proofs, press sheets, manuscripts, typescripts, slides, a creche, galleys, and a hardbound cover. The Collection also contains various miscellaneous and unidentified material. For seven titles, Susannah, the pioneer cow (1941); Tales of enchantment from Spain (1920); Told under the Christmas tree (1948); Twenty-four unusual stories for boys and girls (1921); Under the story tree (1923); Where was Bobby? (1928); and Young Trajan (1931), the Collection holds sketches and/or illustrations. For Susannah, the pioneer cow; Tales from Shakespeare (1923); Tales told in Holland (1926); Treasure trove (1930); Under the story tree (1923); Where was Bobby?; Young Trajan; and Zip, the toy mule, and other stories (1932) the Collection includes proofs. The Collection also holds sketches and/or illustrations, proofs and printed pages for several magazine illustrations, including Child life; Childhood interests; Gateway to bookland; The portal; St. Nicholas; Story parade; Story-a-day; Viking press junior books; and Young wings. The Collection also contains material on Children's book week and miscellaneous published works. There are also typescripts, dummies, sketches and/or illustrations, and manuscripts for more than twenty-five unpublished or unidentified works. Finally, there are many unidentifed proofs of illustrations, Christmas cards, posters, handkerchief designs, sketchbooks and miscellaneous sketches and illustrations.

Hungarian children's author/illustrator, born in Toeroekszentmiklos, Hungary in 1888. Emigrated to the United States in 1912. Married Maud Fuller who was born in Kingston, New York in 1890. Born September 20, 1888 in Hungary, Miska Petersham came to the U.S. in 1912. He met Maud Fuller (born August 5, 1890) when both were working for the advertising agency International Art Service in New York, and they were married in 1917. Their first book was published in 1929, and they went on to have lengthy careers as authors and illustrators of children's books.
